  1. Hey All,

Since I bet you are all far better versed in the world of mini figure collectibles, I was wondering if there are any Rock-related figurines out there? I know minimates had a rock line back in the day, but I'm not talking about that... more like dnd or warhammer style metal figures that are only like an inch or so tall, something along those lines. Hopefully a line with a pretty decent backlog, not just one or two figures :P do you know of any such thing?

  2. Does Daredevil really need a new sculpt? Belt/Billy clubs are alright so far... the only thing I can think of adding to the target exclusive (which thus far is the difinitive Daredevil) would be making the mask have the exposed part of the face right on it, ala new cap/giant-man/every DC minimate with a mask...

  3. They came in when the forumla was perfected. Looking back on the defunct line, ya there were some repeat characters (Superman, Batman) but they were all kind of... consistant, of the same quality, just different versions. After so many waves of marvel, AA had worked out the kinks and learned what it was to make a really cool set of Minimates and DC reaped the benefits. I bring this up, because when I put all my marvel mates together... there's a drop off. I have a bunch of different hulks, but they aren't all equal, all consistant... wave 1 hulk and the latest hulk look totally different, and I don't just mean different like "version" because that would be okay, and encouraged, but just different like it's a totally different product. When I put all my DC mates together, there's a consistancy to them, they all look like they "match" in quality and style... the marvel ones, there's a definate growth period, and not as much of a consistancy to them. Just a little rant.

  4. If my sanity is tested any further I may end up having to just paint it/stick it on flat rather than have a physical piece that stands out... it's lazy, but it may be the only way. I assume the superhero squad one may be too big.

However, seeing that pic... where did you get Prof X's chair from??

  5. OH MY GOD.

Anyone who's ever attempted a Black Bolt custom... tell me, did getting the little thing on his forehead just right drive you absolutely bat shit crazy? I have the whole figure done.. and no matter what I do, paper, plastic, sticker, krazy glue... getting that little thing on his forehead created is just the most infuriating thing in the world. You wouldn't think it, but a combination of the shape you'd have to cut out, and how small it is (meaning it's hard to get into those grooves between the 'horns' of it, etc...) is just insane... I've gone through like 12 different head thingies. I can't get that little symbol right no matter what I do.

    HELP!!

(Originally posted this up in the how to section, but I don't think anyone actually checks the sticky threads :P)

  7. Hey All,

A question to those who've been customizing for longer than me... is there nay kind of 'clear' sticker paper? I guess it would be like a thin sheet of plastic with adhessive on the other side, like scotch tape in a way, that you could print designs/patterns on? The reason I'm asking is because I'd rather just print a design on a clear sticky 'paper' and place that over a black minimate body, then bring a whole black chest piece. Also it would make facial designs easier cause then I would just be able to put eyes/mouthes/brows etc without having to paint or do a whole wrap around thing on the head.

  8. Looks like ever since the Iron Man movie came out there has been a Iron Man Movie Wave, Iron Mam Through the Ages Box Set, Iron Man Movie Box Set, several IM relatd figures in up coming waves... and Golden Iron Man in the Avengers Box Set. Hulk who also had a movie come out, had a movie related wave... that's it. Now, granted the Iron Man movie made more money, but Hulk is arguably the most recognizable and famous character in Marvel's stable right be hind, beside or even in front of Spider-Man. So what the heck? How come they didn't take this opportunity to give Hulk-Heads like me a 'through the years' approach, like...

    The Incredible Hulk #1 2-Pack:

"FA Gray Hulk" (with sculpted forehead ala Avengers set)

    "60's Rick Jones"

    Hulk Through the Ages 5-Pack:

    "Clown Make-Up Avengers #1"

"Joe Fixit" (With trench coat, fedora and tommy gun)

"Smart Hulk" Black tank top, purple jeans, over sized machine gun

    "Hulk 2099"

    "Maestro (Future Imperfect)"

    Plant Hulk 4-Pack:

    "Green Scar (Hulku/King Hulk)"

    "Silver Savage"

    "Ciara the Oldstrong"

"Miek" (first Marvel minimate to have multiple arms?)

    'Hulk Family' 4-Pack:

"Savage Gray Hulk (ala Hulk Gray/Tim Sale)"

"Doc Samson (Blue Jeans, red shirt w lightning bolt)

"Classic Betty Ross (ala Hulk Gray/Tim Sale)"

    "She Hulk (FF costime)"

    Hulk vs Iron Man 2-Pack:

    "Savage Green Hulk"

    "Hulk Buster Iron Man"

The list could go on and on... I guess as a hug Hulk fan I was hoping the movie would be enough of an excuse to get an over abundance of Hulkie stuff... maybe I'm just being ungrateful, after all we did get a great Green Hulk in the Avengers set, and are getting Red Hulk and Skaar in an up coming set (but those charcaters are just too new for me, I want classic hulk stuff)

  9. Dude, I would kill for most of your minimates, ESPECIALLY your Jim Lee area X-Men, specifically Jean Gray, Cyclops, Storm (white costume) and that 'Professor' Beast with the lab coat jacket and glasses. That's a box set right there waiting to happen, maybe throw Jubilee in ;)

Oh, and I also loved your punk 80's storm, LOVE that mohawk. I want that badly.. I want a lot of storm (don't worry she's one of my favs too ;))

  10. Heh, thanks! Knowing my luck though, they'll probably come out with this and a yellow jacket two pack soon enough and it would have been a custom for nothing, but I just wanted this piece so bad, since the first series of minimates. I dunno why I have such a favoritism towards Wasp, but easily one of my favorite Avengers.

  11. You have no idea how long I've been trying to make this specific custom, and finally AA has given me all the pieces I need (was really just waiting on the wings).

    Wasp01.jpg

    Wasp02.jpg

Now, I know it's not exactly accurate... this version of wasp shouldn't have yellow stripes on the shoulders and legs, but I was worried it would look too plain without them. However, it wouldn't be hard to strip it down to a more basic and accurate version.

    Pieces used:

    Movie Peter Parker emo-hair piece.

Super girl face/head (eye brows sharpied black).

Black chest piece (non specific) with printed out design (by moi) on sticker paper.

Black pelvis/hips piece (non specific) with printed out design (by moi) on sticker paper.

    Avengers Wasp Wings.

Avengers Wasp Wings harness (painted black).

Yellow hands (non specific) painted black except for the inside/palms which are yellow in the comic.

Astonishing Cyclops arms, legs and feet.

I will probably do another one without cyclops limbs that will match closer to the comic, but for now I'm happy I could have made this at all!

    EDIT: COMIC ACCURATE VERSION:

    IMG_2244.jpg

    IMG_2246.jpg

So cyclops got his limbs back. I used Movie Betty Ross feet and yellow-sharpied the white part to be yellow. Also, I got rid of the wasp harness because it a) made her neck look too thick, and B) the waist area to me looked awkward and boosted her height ever so slightly... which is kind of the opposite of what wasp is about. Instead, as you can see in the pick, I cut away the tops and bottoms and just crazy glued it to the back of wasp's chest/body piece.

    Voila, comic accurate Wasp.
