  1. I'm voting to include him in the pack. Its a really cool looking Spidey! I'd love to see it be a 5 pack - that way all top 5 vote getters could be in the set.
  2. According to the monkeys running my local stores, they don't have them, haven't ever carried them and won't ever get them in. Funny, I cleaned them out of the most recent wave the day I saw them on the pegs. B@stards. I even give them the SKU and they don't know wtf I'm talking about. And why can't TRU carry them online? Double b@stards. <---- woke up grumpy this morning. Sorry for the rant.
  3. Meh. That's the same one they've been repackaging for years in the Animated line. It is a good 'cave - just old and out of scale for 'mates. (Don't get me wrong - LEGO are out of scale as well, but that's easily fixed.)
  4. Couldn't disagree more. LEGO actually stay together. Play-ability, consistent color - actually in line with Batman's world - all these things make the LEGO set more desirable and a better set IMO. Plus, the LEGO cave came with a TRex. C3's didn't.
  5. Title has been fixed. Everyone please get along.
  6. Shh! The first rule of the plaid Frodo is to not talk about the plaid Frodo.
  7. I think that would work, but again, do some research before starting your customs to be safe.
  8. One thing I think I remember from a conversation held quite a while back. Not all characters that are public domain here in the US are public domain in the UK or other parts of the world. Public domain laws vary by country. Wikipedia info on public domain by country Copyright terms in the US as of Jan 1 2009 For example Popeye the Sailor is considered in the public domain in the UK. He is not here in the US until 2024. Peter Pan is on the list Northraider linked to, but IIRC, Peter is not considered PD due to a children's hospital in the UK owning the copyright. Ha - found it: I think this is a very good idea, and I'll continue to support with my $$, I'm just saying be careful with the character you choose to make.
  9. As far as LOTR mates, yes. The way I remember how this mate came about, initially he was going to be blue, but at the last minute they changed to the clear 'mate that's much more common. The only way to get a blue one was via the TRU exclusive 3 pack you picked up on Ebay. As far as value, it varies wildly depending on who's looking for it.
  10. I eagerly await the opportunity to outbid you again for your custom.
  11. They're notorious for falling apart. Sadly, I think this failure was the first nail in the coffin so to speak for the line. Even the additional parts offered to help stabilize the set didn't do much for the structural integrity. The problem isn't the bricks themselves. It is in the base plates used. They're horribly warped. The other, smaller sets (throne room, chemical warehouse - even some of the flyers -) suffered from this same problem but it wasn't as apparent due to the smaller size of the base plates in those sets. Your best bet is to superglue the individual bricks as you build if you want the set to stay in one piece. The other option would be to build your own using quality LEGO parts...
  12. Monopoly and Uno Attack are popular at our house. We've got about a dozen versions of Monopoly.
  13. On the 360 it is beautiful. This is the game I bought my 360 for. I literally told my wife after seeing the 1st trailer for the game "Honey, I guess I'm going to have to upgrade video game systems." Bought SF4 day of launch and only quit playing to move. Now that my tv is unpacked, I'll be back at it. I'm having so much fun playing and teaching the kids how to play, I haven't even tried playing through the game yet. True story - at one point when I had my comic store, I owned both the original SFII and Championship editions. Some weeks, they made me more $$ than the comics I sold. Maybe we'll see more SFII minimates as a result of the new game...
  14. I actually stole the idea from the LEGO HQ in Enfield. I've just been looking for a way to accomplish the same look all these years. I found cases of 6 blocks for about $30.00. I figure, if I cut away the drywall to the studs, I can mount a shelf to set the block on - making it look like its part of the wall. Once I get it done I'll post pics.
  15. Somebody ask Chuck in the 'ask DST' thing they're running now, if with the release of SFIV we might see a continuation of this line so we can round out our collections. Bonus points if you say 'X character is a MUST have'.
  16. Check the Batman LEGO sets on Ebay if you want to see some return on your investment. I've got a new LEGO project I'm starting soon. I found some glass blocks with openings cut in the top. I'm going to fill the blocks with LEGO - all the same color, if not all the same brick. Then I'm going to install them in between my boys' rooms at my new house.
  17. He can watch all he wants. I guarantee he won't be pulling any of his normal shenanigans here.
  18. I want the diorama in this display. It would be nice if it were part of the box or something. Damn SHS. No way should they get him 1st. >
  19. Good idea, but since Mattel is making SHS sized/styled Brave & the Bold figures, I doubt this would happen.
  20. I'm still weirded out that the Batcave ended up with another Bruce Wayne instead of Alfred. You'd think a generic Minimate of an old guy in a tux would be easy to do, but then it was like they changed their minds at the last minute and put in that Bruce Wayne based on the cartoon, which sorta confuses the whole set. (The Batcave ALREADY came with a Batman variant.) Anyone got an explanation for this? The Batcave came with a Bruce Wayne in a tux, Heavy Assault Batman and Joker. Here's a review from Minimate Central. The animated Bruce Wayne came with the con exclusive Stealth Batwing set.
  21. Those aren't rip-offs, those are actual Madballs (I can vaguely remember them having bodies in some '80s cartoon), they must have the license... American Greetings has been contacted to confirm/deny this. So far, they're unaware of any licensing agreement with Shocker.
  22. The Batcave actually killed it for me. The colors were wrong, the pieces didn't stay together and it didn't come with Alfred. The rest of the line (and associated mates) were all good and I enjoyed them well enough.
